Captive Reptiles, Captive Birds

“Curse the mind that mounts the clouds in search of mythical kings and only mystical things, mystical things cry for the soul that will not face the body as an equal place, and I never learned to touch for real down, down where the iguanas feel” Dory Previn.

These pictures are notes for an essay about humans and other animals. The kids and I went to the aquarium store today. The employees were so nice as to let me take pictures of the animals.

Note on unpleasant banjo music: I wanted to use a track that illustrates the tedium and miserable complex dissonance of being in a smelly cage all day when soil and sun and air are instinct.

There is much more to say about this.

As it turns out, we’re all captive.

Is there really anything to say?
